How Reiki Changed My Life

I am so excited to share that I am now offering Reiki sessions in Peebles and via distance healing! Honestly, I am so passionate about this therapy and it has been such a blessing in my own life. When I started to recover from chronic illness, a friend of mine suggested I should try Reiki, and at first I was unsure if it would help. But a lot of my healing journey revolved around putting my body into a relaxed state, so I was giving myself the optimal conditions needed for healing. I really believe that our bodies have an innate ability to heal, given the right conditions. I had done so much work around nervous system regulation and cultivating deep rest, so I was interested in anything that could help me do just that. So when I heard that Reiki promotes deep relaxation I was willing to give it a try and my love affair with it hasn't stopped since.


During the sessions, I felt so incredibly relaxed, like everything else melted away and I was in a deep state of meditation (everyone experiences something different in Reiki sessions and there are no right or wrong answers, so if you don't feel anything, Reiki is still working!). I honestly think now that when I had my first Reiki session, I felt deeply relaxed for the first time in over ten years. And this is really interesting to me because I have always done yoga and meditation over the years but nothing put me into the deep state of rest that I personally felt with Reiki.


Soon after this, I signed up to do my Reiki Level 1 course for self-healing. That was over a year ago and I don't think a day has gone by that I haven't given myself Reiki since. Since I suffered so severely from chronic illness, I will always take care of my health above all else and take time for self-care and rest during my days. But Reiki makes it so easy for me to do that. I genuinely can't wait to take a 30 to 60 minute break after lunch to do a session, which is something I would never have taken time for in my 'old' life!


I really believe that we all need different things to cultivate that deep state of relaxation and there is no one size fits all, so of course Reiki may not benefit you in the way it did me. But I do think that Reiki is worth a try if you are looking to regulate your nervous system and cultivate deep rest in your body and mind. Reiki is such a relaxing, peaceful, and serene experience. It always works for your highest good, bringing your mind, body, heart and soul into balance and harmony. It can also benefit people with insomnia, high stress and tension and can promote emotional healing. I personally had Reiki sessions as a complementary therapy alongside other treatments, so if you are also on a healing journey, it can be a great addition to any healing protocol.
